Cox Plate 2011 – Betting & Odds Update

October 19th, 2011

The $3 million Cox Plate will take place as the headline race on Cox Plate Day this Saturday October 22, 2011, at Moonee Valley Racecourse and here you will find the latest betting and odds information for the race.

The only three-year-old in the race, Helmet, is the current favourite at Luxbet paying odds of $3.40 at Luxbet to win the 2011 Cox Plate.

Helmet has drawn barrier 11 for the Cox Plate 2011 and will be ridden by regular jockey Kerrin McEvoy.

New Zealander Jimmy Choux is currently second favourite in the 2011 Cox Plate horse racing betting.

The John Bary-trained four-year-old has drifted out in price from $3.60 to $4.20 after performing below par in a Moonee Valley track gallop yesterday morning.

The gallop, which saw Jimmy Choux beaten easily by fellow Cox Plate contender Rekindled Interest, has seen Rekindled Interest shorten into third favourite.

The Redoute’s Choice gelding has shortened in from $12 to $7 at Luxbet and will be jumping from the ideal barrier of three in the 2011 Cox Plate.

Gai Waterhouse’s Descarado has drifted in odds from $15 to $19 after news surfaced the galloper had sustained swelling to his near hind leg.

The trainer is adamant the minor injury will not result in the horse being scratched from the 2011 Cox Plate field.

‘Not a major concern, he had a quiet morning,” Waterhouse said.

”I’d call it a hiccup. I wouldn’t be accepting if I didn’t think he could get there.’

The least backed runners of the Cox Plate 2011 field are Wall Street and first emergency Avienus, who are both paying $81 to win the race at Luxbet.
