Jimmy Choux Set For 2011 Cox Plate Victory

October 18th, 2011

New Zealand trainer John Bary is unconcerned by 2011 Cox Plate runner Jimmy Choux’s poor track gallop performance at Moonee valley this morning.

Jimmy Choux was beaten convincingly by fellow Cox Plate contender Rekindled Interest in the gallop, however, Bary was unfazed.

“It just got messed up a bit. We thought we’d use a pacemaker and they just walked early and sprinted away,” Bary said.

“Hey you know it’s only Tuesday. I’m more worried about my guy finishing (off) on Saturday.

“You’ve seen them stuff up in England (with pacemakers) and we might have done here in Australia too today

“(Jockey Jonathan Riddell) could have let the hammer go and closed but there was no point.”

The trainer instead insisted Jimmy Choux was at his best ahead of Saturday’s $3 million Cox Plate.

“Definitely, he’s a lot stronger, a lot more composed and a lot more arrogant,” he said.

“He worked a nice mile (1600m) on Saturday (at Flemington) and this was all about looking at the Valley and he’s seen it twice now and it just doesn’t affect him at all so we’re confident.

“He’s a real professional.”

Jimmy Choux is currently paying odds of $3.70 to win the 2011 Cox Plate at Luxbet.
