Somepin Anypin Ruled Out Of 2011 Cox Plate

September 21st, 2011

Gary Portelli has decided to abandon Somepin Anypin’s Cox Plate campaign this spring after he was unable to win his first-up race at Rosehill on September 10.

Somepin Anypin was originally nominated for the $3 million Cox Plate, however Portelli felt it was unwise to pay the fees for the second declarations.

“We nominated him for the Cox Plate but decided not to pay up the other day,” Portelli said.

The four-year-old gelding will now run in the 1,350 metre Myer Spring Racing Fashion Handicap at Rosehill this weekend.

“I want to try to get his rating up first and then I’ll deal with the better races from there,” Portelli said.

“The Cox Plate is out but there are still plenty of options, especially in Melbourne, which is good.”

The Pins gelding has won three of his eight races starts and has won over $115,000 in prize money.
