Prize money for the Cox Plate is set at over $3 million and the lucrative stakes along with the prestige of winning the Weight for Age Championship of Australia means the 2011 Cox Plate field will feature top-class gallopers from around Australia and also a number of international entries.

The 2011 Cox Plate field limit is 14 starters plus four emergencies and will be released in late October following the nomination and declaration stages.

Nominations for the Cox Plate 2011 will be taken in early August before the final field of runners is narrowed down and released around October 19.

The 2011 Cox Plate is the sole Australian leg of the esteemed World Series Racing Championship, considered the Grand Prix circuit of thoroughbred racing that includes famed races including the Japan Cup and the Dubai World Cup.
